VIA South Central Transit Station and Training Center
The Transit Center design is based on VIA’s previous single slope roof award winning center capturing the essence of a modern, patrons friendly facility by the use of sleek exterior low maintenance metal panels, state of the art information kiosks, and a patron friendly floor plan allowing full interior views of the saw-tooth bus parking. The Training Center also incorporates a single slope roof two classroom facility with exterior metal panels, a partial wrap around canopy for trainee convenience, and VIA’s inaugural bus training course. Added features to the site are two groups of tensioned fabric structures covering electronic information kiosks.
Through the use of a detailed site analysis, the design team increased the number of programmed parking spaces almost three fold; 135 patron parking spaces with the capacity of an additional 89 overflow parking
